Twitter confirms testing of new ‘Status’ feature for users | WeForNews

San Francisco, July 28: Microblogging site Twitter has confirmed that it is testing a new status feature that allows users to tag posts with predefined tags, much like the statuses allowed by previous LiveJournal and MySpace.

Some of these statuses include “Spoiler Alert”, “Shower Thoughts”, “Photo of the Day”, and for some reason the very redundant “Current Status”.

Currently, users cannot customize their status, reports Tech Crunch.

“For a limited time, we’re testing a feature that lets you add a status topic from a pre-determined list to your Tweets to provide more context to your followers,” the website quoted Twitter as saying.

“So whether you’re about to tweet a thread, share your shower thoughts, or have a bad case on Monday, your Tweets can better convey what you’re up to,” the company added. .

Twitter confirmed that this test is taking place for a limited time with a select group in the United States and Australia, but declined to comment on the size of the group, according to the report.

These statuses, along with an emoji, appear under a tweeter’s name and apply only to that tweet.

Recently, the platform announced that anyone can now share Twitter Spaces clips on iOS and Android platforms.
