Undergraduate entrance: PU has not made a decision yet
Presidency University has not yet decided whether it will admit undergraduate aspirants through admission tests or on the basis of Plus-II grades. The Department of Education has already decided to keep the institution outside of a centralized online admission mechanism. The university has yet to approach the state’s Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) board which has been conducting entrance tests on its behalf since 2015. The university has yet to held a meeting of its admissions committee. Students began an indefinite agitation on campus demanding the introduction of admissions tests.

President’s Police Medal for Top SE Railroad Cop
Devendranath B Kasar, the Inspector General (IG) and Principal Chief Commissioner for Security of the South Eastern Railway, has received the prestigious President’s Police Medal (PPM) for 2020 from the Minister of Railways iron Ashwini Vaishnav for his distinguished services. Earlier, Kasar got the Indian Police Model (IPM) while working in the railway. During his tenure, Operation River Flow was launched in 2011-2012 under which four teams worked in the forest area affected by Naxal and collected data on thousands of passengers to understand their needs and helped to forge good links between the local population and the railway administration.

Call for customs control for international flights in town
Kolkata passengers booked on connecting international flights from other Indian cities should be allowed through immigration and customs checks in Kolkata, the airport advisory board will write to the Civil Aviation Ministry. Kolkata has no direct flight to Europe, USA and many other countries. Thus, passengers from Kolkata traveling to these destinations fly to another Indian city such as Delhi and Mumbai and from there take a connecting flight or fly directly via international airports such as Dubai and Doha. ”I will write to the Minister of Civil Aviation asking them to allow passengers taking domestic flights from Kolkata and then connecting on international flights from other cities to have their immigration and customs clearance in Kolkata ” said Saugata Roy, MP for TMC and Chairman of the Airport Advisory Committee.
