The speeches generated great public interest and an important part of the meeting was a discussion, during which participants answered questions from their colleagues and teachers. It was a particularly rewarding experience for the students to train public speaking skills in an unfamiliar audience, as well as open discussion skills.
The topics of the speeches were multifaceted, which made the meeting special, as participants had to deliver their report in a language accessible to a thematically unprepared audience. Narrow professional legal topics on the work of the legal profession in Russia and the United States, judicial ethics, jury trials, international law issues relating to unrecognized states, child abuse, and the death penalty. And also global issues that affect everyone: the extinction of marine animals, environmental issues and their impact on the economy, time as an economic resource, procrastination and the digital dependence of adolescents.
For many participants, the format itself and communicating in English with students from another university became the first such experience.
