If you are looking for a full-time or part-time job but need help, please consider signing up for the Derry Community Winter Jobs Workshop. The workshop is sponsored by the Derry Region 21st Century Community Learning Center after-school program, in partnership with the Adams Memorial Library-Caldwell Branch of the Memorial Library. By attending both sessions of the workshop, you will be able to see how it can help you with your CV, cover letter, applications, interview questions and dress code before your next interview. The workshop will take place at the Caldwell Memorial Library at Derry Area High School. February 24.

Session 1: February 17.

– Analysis of what makes a resume and cover letter stand out from the rest

– Discussion on how to choose an appropriate outfit to wear for a job interview

Session 2: February 24.

– Review your resume and cover letter and offer suggestions

– Overview of how to answer the most likely interview questions you will encounter

Speakers include Florence Prato and Samantha Fuller, BCIT Certified Teachers from Derry Area, and BCIT and FACS Certified Instructor Elizabeth Hower. The Derry First United Methodist Church will host its first dinner of 2022 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 12.

Applications are being accepted for a Seasonal Summer Pool Manager at Derry Community Pool. The seasonal position will be from May to September 2022. The position will be approximately 32 hours per week.

Duties include hiring, supervising and scheduling staff. Other duties consist of day-to-day financial operations including but not limited to dealership procurement and inventory, managing financial operations with maintaining detailed daily receipt and accounts payable/budget logs, as well as the bi-weekly submission of payroll hours to the borough office.

The position requires some experience in aquatic and/or pool management, with restaurant experience preferred. Lifeguard, CPR, AED, and pool chemical certifications are also a plus, as well as Serve Safe certifications for the concession area.

The position will report to the pool committee on a weekly basis, as well as interact with pool staff and guests. Applicants must have the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends. A background check is required. Resumes will be accepted until March 30.

The brochures include local restaurants and other establishments in the local areas of Derry, Latrobe and Greensburg. Some of the places include McDonald’s, Round House Pizza, Subway, Burger King, and Taco Bell. A reusable coupon panel includes discounts at places like Advance Auto Parts and Dunham’s.
