During COVID-19, many JMU faculty have found it difficult to balance their teaching responsibilities with their primary responsibilities for scholarship/research/creative endeavours. During the academic year, demands for teaching and service are intense and scholarship is put on the back burner. Do you need space, time and responsibility to advance or complete this research, writing or creative project? Join online colleagues who, after a brief check-in with the facilitators, will work independently in a common online space. At the end of each session, participants will check in by sharing their short-term goals for their project. Walk away with a sense of accomplishment, a clear idea of your next steps, and increased academic productivity.

Note: A CFI consultant WILL be available during the faculty writing studio program this academic year. However, scholarship consultations are also available on an ongoing basis and can be requested in advance by submitting a scholarship consultation request.

Faculty members will progress towards this program outcome:

  • Advance scholarship and/or writing projects during the academic year.

Faculty participants will progress towards these scholarship outcomes:

  • Improve academic productivity, and
  • Practice the integration of scholarship with teaching and other professional aspirations.

CFI programs will automatically be canceled if JMU is closed due to inclement weather.

Our programs are intended for JMU faculty or staff only. If you are a student or administrator and would like to participate, please register and leave a note at the end of the survey.

We want this program to be welcoming, accessible and inclusive for all of our participants. Please describe any considerations (eg, disability, well-being, culture, etc.) that you would like us to know about in the registration survey. You can also contact us at [email protected] or (540) 568-4846.
