The capital’s biggest winter attraction is back from the 15the November – 8e January!

With summer now over, planning for winter festivities across the city is underway and Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland has announced the return of its biggest event ever. In 2021, the event has split across two venues to maximize festive fun, and this successful layout will return this year, ensuring Cardiff’s biggest Winter Wonderland ever is here to stay. Visitors can once again enjoy the festivities on the lawns of City Hall and at Cardiff Castle, both locations in the heart of Cardiff city centre.

In what has proven to be a hugely popular feature, Cardiff Castle will once again be home to ice skating, which includes the beautiful indoor ice rink and the magical 150m outdoor walkway, all in the stunning setting of the keep. Norman. .

The castle will also be home to numerous food vendors, where visitors can enjoy a delicious Yorkshire pudding wrap or have fun roasting marshmallows over an open fire with friends. These delicious treats can be enjoyed in the new, expanded seating area, with an improved view of the skating rink.

At City Hall, visitors can enjoy the bright lights and sounds of the rides and attractions or ride the Ferris wheel offering some of the best views in the city. The choice of food and drink doesn’t stop either, with new vendors for grabbing hot chocolate, mulled wine or German sausages on a cold winter night.

Cardiff’s only Ice Bar is also back this season, this time with an increased capacity of 40 people per session, as well as new room hire options for Christmas parties or birthday parties. This year, the bar will also offer Funkin cocktails alongside its previous selection of beers, prosecco and flavored vodka.

Just as popular, Sur La Piste, the alpine ski bar will return in its expanded format offering a warm après-ski atmosphere. New for 2022, its outdoor rooftop terrace will now host all live entertainment, serenading us until Christmas.

Cabinet Member for Culture, Parks and Events, Cllr Jennifer Burke-Davies, said: “The holiday season is always special and with the return of Winter Wonderland and bigger than ever, the return of traditional Christmas markets, twinkling festive lights and much more for visitors and residents, this year is shaping up to be a very Merry Christmas in Cardiff.

Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland organizer Norman Sayers said: “We are delighted to bring Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland back to the city this winter, and in particular the return of our largest ever layout, providing maximum enjoyment for visitors.”

“Occupying two key sites, Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland can again complement the wider winter activities taking place across the city, including the traditional Christmas Market and Santa’s Grotto on Queen Street.”

“With the increased capacity of the ice bar as well as a new theme and sculptures for 2022, we look forward to welcoming even more visitors to our unique attraction.”

Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland will be open from 15e November 2022, with skating tickets on sale now:

Reduced-volume accessible skating sessions are open every Wednesday morning and are available with an accessible ticket that grants access to a personal assistant or attendant.

Traditionally, ice skate slots sell out quickly, especially on weekends. It is highly recommended to book ice skating and ice bar tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

General admission to the Town Hall Lawns and Castle Park Public Square is free for visitors to explore during the winter period.
