New Delhi, Aug 2: Admission cards to candidates who would appear for the second phase of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) examination which was scheduled to start on Aug 4 were issued on Monday, said a manager.
This year, it has been made compulsory to pass the CUET examination to apply for admission to the colleges affiliated with the Central Universities.
All central universities such as Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Banaras Hindu University have been included in this program.
About seven lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exams. At the request of some candidates residing in flooded areas, the examination centers have been modified.
The Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Mr. Jagadesh Kumar, said that every effort has been made to ensure that candidates sit for the exam at their first-choice centres.
Candidates are required to select their choice of exam centers before uploading the admission card.
According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), all applicants would receive admission cards within the next 1-2 days.
The NTA said some of the applicants were having difficulty downloading the admission card due to “heavy traffic” on the website.
CUET is organized for admission to undergraduate courses.
Approximately 14,90,000 candidates have registered for CUET inside and outside the country. Around 8,10,000 candidates showed up in the first phase of the exam which started on July 15.
According to the UGC, students who pass this exam will be considered eligible for admission to 90 different universities, including 43 central universities.
These examinations are conducted in about 554 centers in India and 10 centers outside the country.
