New Delhi: For the first time, farmers in Punjab have started receiving payments directly into their bank accounts against the sale of their wheat crop. About 22,215.93 crore rupees have already been transferred directly to the account of farmers in Punjab.
During the current Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) 2021-22, the Government of India continues to source crops of Rabi to MSP from farmers in accordance with the existing price support program.
Wheat purchases are going smoothly in the buying and UT states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and other states with purchases of over 341, 77 LMT until May 10, 2021 compared to 252.50 LMT during the corresponding period last year.
Out of the total purchase of 341.77 LMT of wheat, a major contribution was made by Punjab – 129.35 LMT (37.84%), Haryana – 80.80 LMT (23.64%) and Madhya Pradesh – 97 , 54 LMT (28.53%) until May 10, 2021.
About 34.57 wheat farmers in Lakh have already benefited from the ongoing wheat supply operations.
